EEO Program resources available on EEX
The Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO) Program was established in July 2006 with the implementation of the Energy Efficiency Opportunities Act 2006 (the Act). The government decided to close the EEO Program, with effect from 29 June 2014. This decision was in line with the government’s commitment to reduce costs for business and its deregulation agenda.
The object of the Act was to improve the identification and evaluation of energy efficiency opportunities by large energy-using corporations and, as a result, encourage implementation of cost-effective energy efficiency opportunities.
A selection of resources developed over the course of the EEO Program (from 2006 to 2014) are now available on the EEX website. Although developed for program participants, these documents and case studies provide information on energy management and conducting energy efficiency assessments that are relevant beyond the scope of the EEO Program.
EEO content has been made available within relevant sections of the website and has also been summarised on the following pages:
Energy Efficiency Opportunities Program - Information about the objective of the EEO Program, how it was implemented and key results achieved.
EEO Program Resources - Capacity-building resources and case studies developed in the eight years of the EEO Program. These resources will remain useful to companies that participated in the program as well as others looking to improve their energy management practices.
EEO Assessment Framework - The framework detailed six key requirements for a rigorous and comprehensive energy efficiency assessment. Original and amended versions remain available for download.
